Everyone is patriotic towards their own country. People in the UK don't give a fuck about the US revolution and see the US, as well as other English speaking countries, as the closest countries to them. The United States is a cool place. They do have a lot of money so hence good movies and music.
There will always be cliches. So we think of the US as fat and stupid. The UK as boring and straight laced. The Germans as sex obsessed Nazi's. etc.
People need to visit these countries before they can form opinions. Like I've said before... I've liked everypart of the US I have visited so far, except L.A. I just don't like the way 90% of the people I met there are money obsessesed.
