(link is german though)

The new VW ecoraceris an amazing new concept by the VW engineers. It's a mid-engined, lightweight sportscar. It has a 1.5 litre turbodiesel engine. Diesel? Yes, diesel. At a very modest 140 BHP, it manages 3.4 liter per 100 km. Convert that too mpg yourself, i'm too lazy now, but you'll find it's remarkably efficient.

Now before you get bored, take a look at the specs, because that's the amazing part. Weight: 859 kg. Power: 140 bhp

0-60 in 6.3 seconds

top speed of 140 mph.

That's one amazing engineering achievement! Everyone should have one of those in an ideal world.

Now it remains to be seen if they can make it really work, but if they work this out, it's fucking revolutionary.

Styling is...remarkable to say the least. Heh, what you thinka of this, eh?

Why so shocked that is a VW? VWs are great ;)
But hardly exciting :D. And you're a fanboy anyway:p

I'm excited though because something like this has never been done before. I mean, if the set-up is good, those performance figures are amazing when compared to petrol cars.

VDubs really ARE great. I have one myself. This car doesnt look all that, but its not THAT bad. I hope they make a few changes before/if it makes production.

0-60 in 6.3 seconds is kind of slow, cars are supposed to get faster, not slower right? although it is pretty fast considering the specs.

however, it looks like a big yellow dildo

0-60 in 6.3 is pretty goddamn fast, lol. Slower compared to what? A Lambo?

Mind that this is a 1.5 liter diesel. :thumb:

Sofi, why do you think it's gonna cost a lot? I think that it will cost less than petrol cars with the same performance.

nothing amazing when considered seperately, but 140 AND VW (known for the combi and bug) it is quite a new spin on the logo normally associated with old people and fat, disgusting, pimple-ridden women...;)

Mostly because of the design. I can't see a car being cheap and looking like that. Then, there's the whole thing of, "how much is a lot?". I do agree that it probably won't cost more than petrol cars with the same performance, but the petrol cars with the same performance cost a lot, to me. :)

:D same here, of course

I can see a big market for this. Let's say it costs the same as, a Golf? Even if it's more, there will be plenty of people wanting one i can gather. I can't imagine they're screamingly expensive, many people will favour it's price-performance relation. We'll just have to see i guess.

how is it amazing? 140 top speed and it's a volkswagen. nothing amazing at all
That and 84 mpg. From a 1.5 liter diesel. Get it?

ah, no one under the age of 21 is gonna buy that, and that seems to be the main target of VW with that thing..the design, they're trying to nab women with it....but no one's gonna...

but then agian, we're americans, and so fuel economy or size really dont matter...er...we hate small pushover cars like that...to us, that's a luxurious riding lawn mower.....
