If you're already rooted....you may as well download the app "JF Updater" from the market, and update to the latest JF Cupcake release that just came out.

Otherwise you would lose root access anyway.

Cool. Enjoying cupcake? Make sure you turn on the animations and orientations from the settings. The animations are FTW.

Shit there are so many systems that I'm fed up already.
Before an Iphone you could program apps for any phone using VB/C#.Net or Java.
Now every developer seems to have a few OS cores and shitloads of new technologies to learn. Do newest Android phones even have a Java virtual machine natively installed?

Sort of.....you can load MIDlets by running through a Wrapper. That's how Opera Mini did their Android port for the browser and it works very well.

The native language of Android is Java. But to really unlock the capabilities of the phone you would need to use the Android specific API's.

Note: I Tried to PM Case, but his inbox was full so I had to post it in here:

My bad Mil, I'm always sending you these dumbass G1 questions.. But yo, I got JF updater, and updated my phone to cupcake version 1.51 using it. Everything went smooth, then I went to install the cupcake radio using JF updater and it keeps giving me the msg "Activity SU Request (in application Superuser Permission) is not responding".

I tried to run the cupcake update using JF updater again and I keep getting the same msg. Any idea what the hells going on? Its not really causing any other issues, phone runs smooth as hell, its just when I go for updates, it tells me to fuck off

Hmmmm. Not sure about that one man. Post it over at AndroidCommunity.com and you're bound to get a quick answer there though. Try download the SuperUser whitelist app from the market, you might need to have that first.

Cupcake is the name of the current version of the OS.

I'm actually thinking of making my own app to make viewing and navigation of a website i use easier. I wonder how it work out lol!

lol caesar!

Each progression in the OS is named alphabetically after baked goods, for some reason.

The next version of the OS (3.0) will be called Donut. Don't know what's after that. Eclair maybe?

mmmmm......Donut.

Anyhoo....the phone is actually called the HTC Dream. The G1 name is just T-Mobile branding......the same way they have the brand name "T-Mobile Sidekick" when it's really called a Danger Hiptop.

To my all my G1 fam, you have GOT to download "Zombie Run" from the market. It's free and is the most fun game ever.

Basically, you go outside to play it and it tracks your GPS in real time, you select a destination, and a level of "zombie outbreak" (like a difficulty settings), and zombies appear on your map and chase you. You have to run and get to your destination without getting attacked by the zombies. It's fucking awesome. I just ran around my neigborhood for 20 minutes in the middle of the night playing it. I was ducking down alleys and going through shortcuts in people's gardens and shit to get away from the damn zombies. IT'S FUCKING BAD ASS. I was laughing my ass off when I wasn't running cos I was having so much fun.

And the developers are working on multiplayer mode too, so if you have friends with G1's you can both play. That is gonna kick even more ass.
