Yeah. great choice. You can party as fuck at the same time too because it's easy as hell. :thumb: 
First year, 4-500 students. second year, only 60-100 or something are allowed in. You need A+ grades. This is not easy by any means unless you are really motivated. One missed lecture can make a difference. Oh man it's gonna be TENSE!
^^ in my university (about 35 000 students total) 2000 first year in university, second year about 1250, stay, because 750 of them found out what they wanted to do in life.
i want to study psychology because i have wanted to become a psychologist or psychiatrist for the better half of my life.

i don't necessarily wanna be a traditional counselor though, i want to work within the fields of psychology. possibly even doing research. i also want to stop by the fields of troubled youth and people who do drugs somehow within the psychology field and do some sort of work, counseling or research, or just helping.

Well Carmi I just finished my Ba in psychology from Concordia...job prospects after finishing...probably the same before I got the degree. If you plan to go into psychology make sure you always get A's, suck up to the teachers so you can get work experience in their labs, and get 3 references from teachers before you finish your degree. The environment you can expect to be in--> very competitive students who refuse to lend their notes if you have missed a class.
Only a certain number of students get accepted into the masters program, thats where the grades and the references and the work experience will help you. If you dont get work in a lab, find a part time job related to psychology, cause it helps a lot in the application process. These are the tips that I could have used before I got into the program, hope it helps you out...oh make sure you take a specialization in psychology, a major wont cut it in the application process.
A trick I found to get good grades...take it personally when the person beside you got a better grade than you...tell yourself "hey wait a second, I have to be smarter than that guy"..it helps a lot for motivation. What school are you planning on going to? If you have any other questions, dont be shy.

i want to get in concordia actually LOL. but my psych teacher said now we only need BA and Ph.D. that the masters is not needed anymore. unless she fucked up.

You can't be a Psychologist in Quebec without having a Masters. A Bachlor's will let you be a counsellor (marriage/couples for example) and you can even work for the Government as a parole officer (I know someone that does that, very good benefits and decent pay)..
It's good you're going to Concordia though, since they have a more human relation type field. They're experts at social sciences, at McGill, it's very dry material. They're alot more research orientated. Know what I mean? Also, apparently, 20% of Mcgill students are actually from Montreal, the others come from different provinces and are from the USA. I know someone that graduated there in Languages, she said it's like those American Universities you see on TV. While Concordia is more layed back, she actually is going into Law at Concordia next year, so you have an idea what's up.

but my teacher said its not necessary to have a masters anymore (or about to be). i'm gonna have to look at that. but a masters is like 2 years right? and a ph.d another 2-3 years no? my teacher told us its like 3 years BA and 4 years Ph.D. kinda adds up to the same amount of years.

All it does is mask the problem, it masks the probem. You're not getting to the reason why. There is no such thing as a chemical imbalance.

if its something you really like..go for it....ill tell u what my aunt told me a few days ago..make sure their are jobs when u come out after you finish ur studies because u dont want to do somethinng only because u like it that much..but when u come out of it....there isnt a high demand in jobs....over here in van..i dont think there is a big scope on physcology....but u know..just make sure this is something that u want to do for the rest of ur life...and also something that u can get money on
I know that at concordia when you do your masters you're expected to do your phd as well... maybe she just added both together?? you'll have to ask her

I didnt want to scare you with the competition thing...well maybe I did. Its definitely something that you should know before you start, its totally different from cegep.

I didnt think I could get A's either but I got really pissed off and started killing the classes. My problem was that I was scared to see what kind of grades I could get when I really actually studied and tried my best. Anyways I think a lot of people can get A's but they dont know the right way to go about it. You have to learn how you remember material best and work with that. If you want some tricks, let me know.
