Because personally i dont like them. I would never ever get dreads. On the other hand, i think they might fit to you....so, let me change my answer into "yes, do it".

That's a commonly held misconception. There are a number of specially designed shampoos and hair products to clean your dreads.

I don't like dreads. I think people who wear them are just dirty :p no tidy human would live without washing hair at least once every 2-3 days

You can wash your dreads as often as you want with the special dreadhead shampoo. Nothing dirty about it. Again, a commonly held misconception.

I don't like dreds...they look...dirty I think. Locs look a lot better and are neater. However, as a musician it would probably enhance your image so i'm going to say if you want them go for them.

I'm "tidy" as you put it and I don't have to wash my hair that often. I do not have greasy hair which needs to be washed daily and I shower every day twice or more. Hair washing has nothing to do with being clean. Different textures require different things. I wash my hair about once a week. People with really kinky hair need not wash their hair any more frequently than once a month. The more kinky the hair is... the dryer it is. Constant washing only breaks it off and makes it unhealthy. Please don't confuse your lack of knowledge of other cultures to mean that someone is not a "tidy human". Dreds can be and usually are washed, just not as often as someone would wash straight stringy greasy hair textures.

Why thank you katie. I'm not sure you've seen a recent pic of me though, if not, click here. :)

Syn....I'm not sure at the moment. I'm in two minds about it. I think it would look awesome but I also like being able to change my hairstyle whenever I want. I don't knooooooow.
Well this is the thing. Depending on how straight your hair is.. it might take awhile for your hair to actually dred permanently. Also, once you cut them off you'll have A LOT of styles to be able to switch up with while you're waiting on your hair to grow back out. I personally like what you do with your hair now. It's very "fun" always.

I have afro hair, almost.

Curly as hell when I haven't been using Dark N Lovely chemical straighteners or using my iron hair straighteners. The black girl who sometimes braids my hair thought I was black cos of my skin tone and hair. Most Indian folks hair isn't as curly as mine. I am mixed race though.

And thanks Syn, I like what i do with my hair too.....lol

Oh yeah, if you have really thick hair, that ranges from kinky to curly and all the levels in between... you'll be able to have a lot of fun with it while it's growing back. You'd be able to get twists, flat twists, waves probably, a fro, different levels of braids and ponytails, faux hawks..., etc. It would be fun for you, I think.
