Many were or still are nationalised corporations, but independently ran without direct government intervention. They do get their funding directly or indirectly from the governments, though.

Some nations (France, UK) have large single organizations, other nations, such as Holland, have many smaller broadcast groups with their roots in different "layers" of society.

Most, if not all, get their main funding through tv "licenses" or taxes. A small fee in general.

Don't you think it should be up to each and everyone to decide whether or not they want to pay that fee to view the network in question? It baffles me that people don't find it strange when the government says you have to pay a TV-license to fund their network, whether you watch it or not is irrelevant.

I say we do this in America. It could mean less idiots wasting their lives watching the idiot box... then again, it wouldn't change anyrthing in that aspect. I still think there should be a license to have kids.

We dont have to pay for TV here in Australia.

Ive always wondered though why I have to pay for Cable and STILL get shitty ads on it :mad:
