i would say that declawing the cat would be much more cruel than not getting the cat fixed. besides, i've seen cats that have been declawed, and they usually turn pretty nasty afterwards, but that's a person's perrogative i guess. but i agree, get the cat fixed, for a number of health reasons, none of which involve the cat being in immense physical pain.

should i take the fact that you responded to Flip's post and not mine as a concession that you have no evidence to back up your claim? i mean i'm not trying to attack you, but it bothers me that you were so harsh to Carmi, and tried to tell her, under the guise of knowledge, that she is putting her cat through immense pain when it's simply not true. like i said, if you can provide some evidence to back up what you said i'd like to see it, because i'm very skeptical since the leading organization in animal health care in North America makes no mention of this at all. i'm a cat lover myself and i have never heard this before, and i've talked to a number of vets in my time, none of them have ever said anything like this. again, i'm not trying to attack you, but if you can't provide any evidence to back up your claim, i think you owe carmi an apology, a better one than you gave her for being so harsh towards her

I agree, scratching psts work great, but I have street cats. Mine were strays that I've brought in. So I had problems teaching em, so I had to denail one of em in the front paws, he's a happy camper now, he's asleep behind me.

lol.. but I adopted them, both, at very young orphan kittens.. so it was alot easier teaching them.. I can imagine them being stray cats, would of been harder man... but it's cool! I hear it's one hell of a recovery after they get de-clawed, how was it for your cat?
The first week he was kinda out of it, sleeping, and a tad frustrated. Within the 3rd week, he was back to normal, play fighting with the other, running around. You know, generally happy cat.
My cats always hang around me also. When they sleep on my bed it becomes a fight for domination though lol. It's not out of the ordinary that they take their play fighting to actually fighting, but they're back to being homies right after as usual. :laugh:

yeah we gonna get her spayed/fixed soon. my mom is calling the vet tomorrow. as for denailing, that shouldnt be a problem as she doesnt scratch the furniture. and yeah gonna get him the shots for worm too probably.
i got the cat from my bf who was allergic that got it from the girl at his job which got it i dunno where. she looks like a street cat so i dunno. but shes so adorable. but she is maybe a lil too much affectionate.

Female kitties are generally affectionnate. Males less, but once the balls come off him, he'll be alot more. Generally, a cat chooses 1 person in a family that he's close to or allow as a "master" (even though cats don't care about anyone and are independants). My cats all chose me, so they're always hanging around and affectionnate. Spend time with yours, and he'll be loyal to you down to the end. No joke.
