Actually, the ORIGINAL ALBUM TOOK 3 DAYS. Do you have the Thug Angel box set? If so, on the CD included in it, there is an interview with the only female Outlaw, Storm on it. She talks about how Makaveli was actually completely done in 3 days, but "people kept coming to Pac with new beats, and he'd like the new beat better than the first one, so he'd have the engineer switch the beats. So, the album was actually recorded and finished in 3 days."
And furthermore, so what if it was 7 days. 7 FUCKING DAYS. Dogg, I'm an underground rapper in Detroit. I've recorded about 4 or 5 songs in a professional studio. When you're talking about a 12-13 song album, doing the whole entire thing, laying vocals, the beat, arranging, mixing, recording your ad libs and all that shit, there is virtually no difference between 3 and 7 days.

That did the exact thing on "Still Ballin", replacing "Kurupt" with "Trick", but nobody even talks about that.
Nobody complains about Tyrese, Mya, TI, Jazza Pha, Nas, etc. on Better Dayz, but suddenly its a crime with Eminem does it? That has shit has been going on before LTTG came out - why werent people sayin "free Tupac" back then?
And what message did they change? They don't change the message in his music nor do they flip the meaning to one of his songs. All they really do is make Pac shout out rappers he didnt even know...and even though its pointless, its also harmless.

If you are a person who has been down on the Lawz and Johnny, then that's cool. When I make the statements I make, usually I'm generalizing. I'm not usually pointing to one specific person. I can't follow every member of this board to know what their opinions are. But it sounds to me that save for a few aspects on this topic, you and I relatively agree on it.
Lemme ask you something. I did see the article where Eminem said he spent 3 days on it. But, does anyone recall if he was specific? What I'm getting at is that maybe it took him 3 days to lay Pac's vocals over the beats, not necessarily make the beats himself. Eminem wasn't very specific, so nobody is really sure what exactly took 3 days.
Knowing the process of creating the beat, I find it hard to believe that Em was able to construct 13 beats in 3 days. I'm guessing that a lot of those 3 days was probably mixing/arranging and such. Not necessarily constructing the beat.
However, I think the beats for songs like Soldier Like Me, The Uppercut, Ghetto Gospel, Out On Bail, Don't You Trust Me, Loyal To The Game and Who Do You Love are all pretty average beats. The only beat I can say I really despised was Thug 4 Life. That was just terrible.

Why could she not change what Em had done? All she has to do is call Marshall and say "I don't like this" or "this isn't gonna fly" and have him do it again. She isn't a producer, but that doesn't prevent her from being able to tell him re-do it. Plus, like I said, the Lawz have the final say with her, and they know what they're doing. Fuck, EDI produced some of the Outlawz shit.

Since Backstabber dropped locally, Eminem has produced much of his own music, he also produced underground shit for other local acts at the time such as D12, Obie Trice, Royce, Slum Village, and a few others.

They do. Someone posted an interview from EDI at the front page around the time LTTG was dropped. Much of the interview was him talking about how the album was put together and why they selected Eminem to produce the album. EDI also touched on why some people were taken off of the tracks and replaced with others that are just popular and didn't even know Pac.

saying eminem is a producer is like saying he's an actor. he's neither. he's a rapper who has explored other areas of his interests and varying degrees of talent. before labeling eminem a producer (who fits the same bill as other hip hop producers who only produce or started by producing), you have to ask yourself if eminem could have succeeded in the industry if he never had picked up a mic. i'd say no with confidence. shit, dizzy can produce better than him and he's working in a cave. by the same token, dr. dre isn't really much of a rapper. his thing is priduction, and just because he picks up the mic on occasion doesn't mean that he could ONLY rap and achieve the same level of success.
i can respect that marshall wanted to be a part of this project. fair enough. but when they cancelled the same tracks that he later produced just so it could be an eminem featuring 2pac album and that hurt the project in an incredible way. replacing tracks by kanye or others in favor of em's very sam-sounding stacatto production was a huge disservice. shit, i'll even let him slide with making pac shout him out because i have done that myself.
changing vocal tempo (buy sometimes as much as 10bpm) is the mark of an amateur. 2pac's albums (including his FIRST) have never resembled novice talent. therefore you turn to the producer of the weak tracks. marshall.
afeni and the outlawz are to blame here, because they have creative control. i think that the outlawz bowed down to eminem's recognition and fame, and thought that he could make this album successful on the merit of his name and therefore continue the 2pac vehicle for outlaw success. once again, had there been no pac, we'd have no outlawz. they would have never made it in the industry. on every album, on every damn one the outlawz make it a point to remind us that they worked with pac. pathetic. they are horrible artists on anything they have touches since 1997-8.

take it easy on afeni. she's not a musician - she is focusing on helping kids. the problem is that the musicians who pac worked with (the inlawz) are so offbase that they're destroying his music.
what amaru needs is focus groups. play the album to 50 people from a wide crioss section. 49 out of 50 dentists agree this was a poor album.
