"Who Shot Ya" by B.I.G

I heard that that song was actually supposed to be on a movie OST, and wasn't an actual diss to 2Pac. It sure sounds like it, though.
It was originally just the first verse and it was made for a Mary J Blige song. Big and Keith Murray was on it. But Puff figured it Big's verse was too rough for the song and they scrapped it. But on Mary's album 'My Life' there's an interlude where you hear part of Keith Murray's verse

"So called beef with you know who..."
First of all, the line goes something like, "If Faith had twins, she'd have two Pacs, get it? Tupac's?" and that's from Brooklyn's Finest. I think we're just talking about Who Shot Ya for now. And that line wasn't even really a dis, Biggie was actually a good sport about it and had the "make them laugh with you instead of at you" mentality.

Allegedly it was a diss to Pac, but things really don't add up to it. I've heard that track a lot, and honestly I can't see how it's dissing Pac. Plus, wasn't it recorded before the first shooting? I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

That isn't why Pac dissed him, Jay didn't even talk about Pac in that song. According to Fatal, Pac dissed him just because he was big New York rapper alongside Biggie, plus he had been making some comments on East Coast radio stations.

It's questionable....

I think that Big may not have made it something against Pac, but that Puff may have jumped on the track as a sort of defense thing for his camp because Pac was saying all types of shit to them in a whole bunch of interviews.

I dunno though, maybe Puff was just on it yelling because him being on a track talking shit seemed to be pretty big back then.

Puffy said they cut it because it was too hard, but why would Biggie write such a hard verse if he knew it was going to be for a Mary J. Blige project?

Well even if Biggie felt like writing a hard verse for Mary J., that's kind of inconsiderate. Sure, artists can write whatever they want, but they have to fit the song. Pac would've been retarded if he wrote some "Hit 'Em Up" type lyrics when he recorded with Jon B. Bone Thugs would've been stupid if they wrote about guns and weed when recording with Mariah Carey. It doesn't make sense.
