What would you do?

I was talking in the office with a few of the RA's of my quad, and the one girl, who's a senior, got into grad school here at UNC and at UPenn. she's racking her brain on what to do, and i was just wondering what you would do.

So would you go to grad school for social work (2 years) at UNC, who's ranked #7, for $50,000 less, or would you go to UPenn, who's ranked #11, for $50,000 more just for the "Ivy League" title that comes along with it?

I'd stay at UNC without question, but apparently it's not as easy a choice for her.

id hit UPenn, but thats just me.
Even though UNC is ranked higher? And has a nicer campus (I've been to both, just my opinion, though UNC and UVa. are widely considered the two best)?

I guess a change of scenery might be nice, but for two years for $50,000?

^ you guys have it so bad, 50 gz is NUTS. Here, for 2 years at University of Toronto, youd probably pay something like 20 gz. and UofT being one of the best universities in Canada. Move north.

Yeah, it blows. The approximate cost for out-of-state UNC (tuition, room and board, books and supplies, and personal and travel expenses) is $27,503 a year. Luckily I get enough aid that I only have to pay $9,000-$10,000 a year.

So glad that Carolina promises to cover any costs that any of its students can't afford :)

I'd use the first 50k build a secret hideout and the second 50k for a Turbolaser Destroyer.

The world will be mine!

Easy choice, take the cheaper route for sure. Ull still have the same degree and wont be spending additional years paying for ur schooling. College costs are outrageous and theyre only going to get higher and higher and higher until my fucking head explodes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your not losing that money. You are guaranteed a future by spending it.
If you'd be getting a better education from UNC, as the rankings would imply, wouldn't that be losing it? Wouldn't you be maximizing your utility by getting the best education at the lowest cost? Or are the title "Ivy League" and the change of scenery to Philly worth $50,000 to you?

Might not seem like that now, but when you graduate, you will have a HUGE advantage. Not that there is anything wrong with going the other route. I would discuss this with some sort of guidance counsellor or some shit before you make your decision. Streethop is not the best place for college advice. :p
