Well as far as service goes, verizon is the best when it comes to getting service in the most places. This year I traveled all over with people who had all differnt types of services. I had verizon and I always had reception no matter where we were when other people's phones wouldnt work. Even when we were in the south right after the hurricane. My phone was the only one that worked. I know that's an extreme case you will more than likely never encounter but I am jsut saying, it shows that with verizon you are always going to get a signal. I would say from my experiences it goes like this
verizon
att/cingular
nextel
sprint

plus ALL incoming calls are free.
You have to pay for incoming calls?

Find out which has the best coverage in your area, Verizon might be shit in your area but amazing in another area, doesn't help you though.

Verizon is the best in terms of coverage. The second best with coverage is Cingular. Their coverage area really can compete with Verizon. I had Verizon for about 3 years and in the last year I had horrible reception for whatever reason. It seemed to be only me. Also, I hate their contracts, agreements, and often received unexpected high-priced bills. I have nothing but negative things to say about Verizon (aside from coverage).

Ironically, despite statistics, I'm now with T-Mobile and have outstanding coverage and never go any place where I don't have bars.
