There's something really profound about it. Wonder how many years this had been left abandoned before someone took this pic?

is that the one in Pripyat, Ukraine?

doesnt look like it though. there is a famous ferris wheel in that city. it was the city closest to the chernobyl power plant when the disaster occured. it was pretty much abandoned afterwards and that ferries wheel can still be seen there today. it opened shortly before the disaster occured i think and hasnt been touched since. it is a very eery and sad kind of an image.

ok not the same one. I guess its a sad image because its something that symbolises life and children enjoying themselves and now thats gone. thats what makes it such a powerful image i think.

It's somewhere near North Carolina, apparently. It's got to be much older than the Pripyat one, I think. It's completely rusted and the shrubs have overtaken almost all of it. It does look smaller, too though. But Chernobyl was only 1986.... I'm thinking this top one has been abandoned since maybe the early 20th century.

Hmm... From the look of the rust on it, as well as the environment taking it over, I'd say it is at least 50 years old. Excellent photo though.

I honestly didn't see it as sad when i opened the thread, until I read what was said.

If you got that exact shot, in the night with mist. clouds and a big moon, it would be perfect for a crazy clown called "It" to come out!

Muhahahaha
