I have not read Da Vinci but I read A&D and didn't like it...The end was pretty dumb and over dramatic. It doesn't make sense that Langdon survived.
But good books:
"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Steven Chbosky, for any thinking teenager.
"You Don't Know Me" by David Klass, same as ^
"Living a Life that Matters" by Harold Kushner, I loved this one because the author writes with such a beautiful flow or something. It's just really...thoughtful. There is the one part where he talks about a small part in a Bible story and it made me realize how it is actually very important and strong.
"The Dark Tower" by Stephen King, I'm only reading the first one right now but I'm determined to finish all seven because they have grabbed me in.
The thing about reading is that it can only be done in certain environments when you're feeling a certain way. Watching TV or listening to music is easier because the mood you're are in and the way you feel doesn't have to be a certain way so much. Sometimes I'm in a bookstore and buy books and get home and just leave them alone because my environment at home is different than the bookstore. I always wonder if the people who say "I hate to read" really do hate it or just can't get into the right zone to do it.

That was a real book everyone who likes reading should check that out, also Wiseguy by Nicholas Pileggi, "Monster" Autobiography of Sayika Shakur, The Art of War by Sun Tzu, Sting Like a Bee by Jose Torres, Muhammed (SWH) In The Bible by Rev. David Benjamin Keldani and The Bible and The Quran In the Light of Modern Science by Dr. Maurice Bucaille all very good interesting books.
I'm reading a good one at the moment, it's called "Anne Boleyn" by Joanna Denny. It dispells all the myths about Anne Boleyn (who was, of course, Henry VIII's second wife who was beheaded). Historically, she has been misrepresented as being a whore, a witch and a seductress who clawed her way to become Queen. But, just to quote the blurb, she was actually "highly literate, accomplished, intellectual and a devout Protestant." Majority of what we are told about her, is actually lies spread by her enemies - the book goes into detail disproving these lies and highlights her true character, as well as exposing the truth behind the charges that led to her execution.
