"Thanks for asking"

#1
So I'm at work. Last month we had to plus-sell donations to a childrens hospital. Yesterday I was at work and I asked someone "Would you like to donate a dollar to the childrens hospital?" and the lady said "No, but thanks for asking.".

So then I started laughing a little because I finally realized that they said "thanx for asking" everytime I asked. The lady looked at me and said "what?". I was like "Thanks for asking? That's like saying 'Thanks for letting me kill a child today!'". And telling me thanx.. like I'm happy to be an accomplice to your homicidal rage towards sick children.

Do you ever catch yourself saying shit like that when you go to the store?

no but maybe that's bc no matter what i donate to charities and foundations....if i donate $1 that could help some how and seeing as i do it everywhere all the time i donate alot of money....i don't like ppl who say they can't afford it as if $1 is sooooo much money, right now i'm selling raffle tickets for Make-a-wish foundation and the ridiculous things ppl say to turn you down make me irritated

It's true. Not everyone has a dollar to spare these days. Especially here in Canada, but that's another story.

Are you in sales btw Jocka?

"Customer Service". I'm a cashier at a gas station lol. Working on a new job.

As for the issue on people not sparing money. Some of them offer .50 or .75 because they literally don't have a dollar. However, we only sell 1.00 and 5.00 donations. YES SALE. As in, they get a free bag of chips (1.00) or a free 12-pack (5.00). We have to bribe people to do shit these days.. it's horrible.

Well, she thanked you for asking. What would be the appropriate answer if she did not wish to donate, in your opinion?

"Sorry. I just don't have the money." - thats enough.. or maybe something like "When I get paid maybe..". It just seems like a better choice of words.

she was just trying to be respectful/nice to you. And sometimes, we say things we dont mean. Kinda like "in the moment" sorta thing. But i hear where youre coming from...

But, the reality is, she does have the money. She just does not want to donate. It's better to tell the truth then lie.

I mean i donate my change everytime i go to A&W, or every year when the Terry Fox Cancer Reasearch fundraiser comes along, but sometimes I just think my 5 dollars ain't enough money to find a cure for cancer.

AHHA i do that shit all the time, but worse

once i walked into a convience store at 10 at night and the clerk nodded at me, and i was like "good morning" lol

i say "how bout u" back to people constantly wen they ask me a question, i started it at work, cuz thats the only way neone wud talk to me wen i was in the dish area. Waitresses would jus say like hey hows ur day goin, ill be like good. If i jus leave it ther they jus walk away. but if I say how bout u, they actually stop to hav a convo. but now its become a habit and i say it all the time, and most of the time it doesnt make nesense.

like this chick asked me the other day"hey kurtis, how was hockey last night?" i was like "not too bad, how bout u?" Shes jus like "i don play hockey haha"

I d.k. about anyone else but I'm choosy about who I donate to. You don't know for sure which organizations to trust. I donate money to Childrens Medical Center every paycheck I get...and I walk in the hospital and donate it directly to the hospital...I'm not gonna throw a dollar at everyone who asks.

...and maybe she already donated...During Hurricane Katrina so many ppl asked for donations. Not many ppl can donate to every person that asks.

Yea i don't usually donate unless I completely understand how much is going to what I'm donating to.

She probably did donate for katrina cuz we do that too... still.. I haven't donated yet and probably won't. But that's because I'm broke more broke now than at any point in my lifetime.
