tattoo ideas

I had this tattoo in mind when it was just my son but now with my daughter being born it won't work.

The idea originally was a cartoon-like dog, muscled up, holding a diamond. That representing his chinese horoscope symbol and birth stone.

However my daughers is a Pig.. i'm sure when she's old enough she would murder me in my sleep.

So now I'm moving on to different and new ideas. I was going with the dog thing still. Thinking of just a Pitbull, Bulldog, or some dog that people are generally afraid of to represent my son. Then a small chihuahua or something small and something seen as "feminine" for my daughter. But that still seems odd to me because then I'm only using his symbol. I could just ignore the chinese horoscope and go with that. Adding their birthstones into a small charm on a collar around their necks or something??

Any other ideas would be awesome. A friend of mine is going to his tattoo guy to get him to draw something up for me but I need to know what I want first. Gimme your ideas of what you think would be kool. Maybe i'll find a way to blend some of them together if I get enough good ones.

That makes my kids seem FAR too much like thugs. Too gangsta for my taste.

I'm thinking now since my sons name is Alex of getting something with like an "Alexander 'The Great'" theme. Tiphani Elizabeth is a little harder. No historic 'Tiffany' and only Elizabeth i can think of is Queen Elizabeth. So if I could come up with a creative way to show Alexander defending the Queen as if he were the guard.. yea, that would be awesome.

Arms or back are only options?

Do something on each shoulder, maybe on the front of each.

What are the names? Can u do an abigram?

.. i kinda like flipmo's idea. Something about a strange guy online with weird threads holding my kids.. sounds safe.

No but I like hizzles Idea.. that sounds kool... except if I ever have another kid I won't be able to fit them in there.

And rukas.. i'm gonna be honest. I don't know what an abigram is but i'm gonna google it and i'll get back to you.

::EDIT::
Ok googled. The names are Tiphani and Alex (or Alexander). I'm not even close to being able to knowing how to do that with those 2 names.

Portraits of them but you have to know a very good tattoo artist. You could get a banner with the stones in there somewhere. You cold get a big and a little koi fish with water and the stones floating in water with seaweed and everything. Getting a tattoo is a very thoughtful process and takes time. They're so meaning full it could take a while to come up with a concept to give the artist to run with.

Scrap the idea. You don't need a tattoo to convey your love for a child and you don't need a tattoo to make sure your child is not forgotten. Your child will be close to you for at least the first 18 years. What is the point of holding a baby in your arm and looking at the arm to see the baby's name or something that represents it?

You're a married, young man. I don't want to see you at wal-mart tatted up white-trash style in the baby food isle. Thank you.

.. but softstick... :( I just dirtied up some wife beaters and got my old torn blue jeans out that them there closet. I need to take my chitlens and ol' lady out to the fancy walmarts up yonder down da street :(

No I wanted a tattoo of my child for a long time. It isn't to remember them like I'll wake up when I'm 92 and forget who they are and the tattoo will bring back memories. Honestly it's more of a sign of how far I've come in this world. So far that my stupid ass can raise 2 kids as a man when 5 years ago I was off doing drugs, drinking, and fucking everything i saw. This represents my growth as a man and the only thing I can think of every day.

And Rukas, I'm using this site: http://ambigram.matic.com/ambigram.htm

Names used:
Alexander / Elizabeth
Detrick / Tiphani

Yeah well, tell the tattooer to do something so you can add another kid on the picture...

If you're religious, you can tell him to draw her as the virgin mary holding Jesus, but she holds two babies.

If you have a third one, just tell him to tattoo it hanging around her neck, like on her back...

Jesus christ dude, more than two kids?? what you wanna open a kindergarten?

Lol...whatever, you just want a tattoo... Just say it :)

You know that you came a long way, why do you need something drawn on yourself then...for other ppl to see it?

I mean, its your choice, I'll help you with your ideas, but while I'm at it, i'm dropping my two cents...

Jesus people, its his choice if he wants a tat, do you honestly think he should listen to some people online or even care about their opinions? it was his choice to have kids and it is his choice to have tattoos to represent them, give him a break already!

If you dont like the idea, stay out of the thread, no need to try to convince him that your opinion is right by going on and on about it constantly.

I need to get another tattoo soon, too. I got my first one shortly after my 18th birthday, so I think I will get my second shortly after my 21st, which is in a few months time.

I want something to do with India, but not a picture of India on a map (that would be lame), or an "Ohm" symbol (cliched). I gotta think about it. I also may incorporate the initials "K.B" somewhere into it, as it's my wife's initials, but before you guys say anything about that, it was my late mother's initials also.

Jocka - let us know what you get and show us a picture when it's healed enough.
