i had a nose ring when i was 15 and i ended up taking it out and it closed after a week and a bit. I guess it's all relative to who it is. Right now you can barely see the mark of i ever having a nose ring.

And haunted, Eyebrow piercings if you don't take it out your body will push the ring/stud out. Then you won't be able to grow hair in that section of the eyebrow ever again. (i know this because i'm friends with alot of skaters)

piercings never really close 100%. the hole path may close, but the surface epidermal holes will never fully heal. a lot of patients who i have seen complain of a slight body odor type smell, that stems from the dead tissue from the keloid scar. there's not much you can do after letting a piercing heal except to keep it as clean as possible.

a friend of mine had her eyebrow pierced and when she went to work she used a small piece of fishishing line to keep the hole open.. it was rigid enough and clear so you cant see it also you can disinfect it first..

It all depends how long you had the piercing. If you had it for too long it will never heal, and a year & a half sounds like a lot of time...
