I would stand by them no matter what. Wether they commited the crime or not, "a friend is a friend even till the end". (Dunno where i heard that) Just show him you're on his side, whatever he did, you know him better so dont turn on him.

If that's your friend then you can kinda have an idea of what he is and isn't capable of, ya know?

I mean so what if he's in trial, or if he's in jail. I know plenty of people who have been to jail, that doesn't change who they are.

If he told you he did it, then maybe you have to question your friendship, but if the courts tell you he did it, I think you should still stick by him.

Think about how many times someone has been falsely accused of something, you never really know unless the person tells you himself.

I think a real friend would stick by him now more than ever, because it's the people who are there for us when we are down, who are truly our friends.

I don't agree. I stick with my friends but there is a line u know. U gotta know the details of the murder. IF he did kill her just for the fuck of it - I couldn't call someone like that my friend......if he's innocent but goes 2 jail, well, then u can stick with him.

I dunno, maybe he's not talkin about the case with you cause letters from prision are checked. So it could be dangerous to leak any details.

Just act the way you are now. Normal, and a good friend. As for him, rapping along "Locked Up" will have a whole new meaning.

man, if one of my friends is facing murder charges, I would definately be there when it happens and after. I would be like man you fucked up, but at least he would have somebody giving him some support.

That's ignorant...He's not a thug. He's facing the death penalty so NO there's a good chance he won't get out.
To me...you sound like you glorify the "ghetto/gangsta/hard/w.e. life but I'll tell you from first hand experience there's nothing glorious about it. Thanx for your opinion. Sorry I don't agree.
Thanx 2 everyone else who left comments

Being high aint got anything to do with anything! Seems to me like you think he's guilty, If found guilty fuckin bin the murdering scumbag!! friend or no friend, he crossed the line in the worst way possible.

How did the person die anyways?

lol at the guy who said if you dont like thugs dont mess with them!! if found guilty he aint a thug he's a murder'er.

I don't got "friends" I got brothers n' sisters.....if you know me on a just an occasional high, then i wouldn't even bother puttin' in the time at your trial....but if you ride wit me then I die with you...simple as that

I'll try to keep this short.

One of my friends that I've known for about 8 years is facing murder charges. On his 21st birthday he went out, got drunk, high, etc. That same night his next door neighbor was found dead in her home. He's lived in the same house his whole life. He's known this lady since he was a big head and a lil body. So anyway, they did an investigation and his DNA was in her house. I guess they had enough evidence to charge him with murder. So that's where he's sitting. In jail waiting to go to trial. He's never admitted to doing it but he's never said he didn't either. He's kinda dropped hints that if he did do it he didnt remember it...because he was so messed up. I dunno...But my thing is...How do I act around him? I still talk to him and write him letters. To me he's still the same person. He hasn't been convicted of anything yet...but the details of the whole story are pretty bad. It's not in my nature to turn my back on somebody I call a friend but when do you draw the line? If he told me he didn't do it I could stand behind him but he's not talking.

So what would you do in my situation?
His case might also get dropped because of the cops tampering with the evidence or something...
Hmm would be interesting to see how the prosecution would make a case for murder seeing as if he was highly intoxicated, he probably wouldnt have the ability to form the requisite intent... although I dont know what the nature of criminal law is the US, seems at face value more like a form of manslaughter. And you'd need some fairly convincing DNA to put him at the scene, especially if there aren't any witnesses. If he went out on his birthday, surely he has an alibi or two. But that is beside the point of the thread, sorry.

Theoretically if the law supposes someone to be innocent until proven guilty, then a friend should afford that kind of approach too. Unless, somehow you feel uncomfortable or even slightly in danger if the suspicion is high - then I think follow your initial instincts not to turn your back on him. And if he cant tell his lawyer or a court that he is absolutely certain he didn't do it, then naturally he wont be able to tell you either. I think just remember this, you dont have to pass judgment on him - that is for the court to do, it is not up for you to decide whether he did this or not. The more important question is whether he needs your support and whether your friendship is strong enough not to want to give up on it.
