I don't know how well this will work since we are from different countries but what are some words you hear and think...Thats wrong.

Also...ppl in the US usually pronounce the cities wrong when they are not from that state....

I don't like when ppl say Ill-ih-noiz...It annoys me. I'm not even from Illinois but I pronouce it Ill-ih-noi. Somebody correct me?!

I highly doubt you'll find someone who's been taught elementary school geography in the United States will pronounce Illinois as Illanoise. The same applies to Arkansas. Of course, some people just say Illinois to attempt humor, such as Steven. All it comes down to really is how you've heard it said because the pronounciation goes against proper grammar. That's why you hear people say cities wrong often where they aren't from. When I traveled across the country, I learned this the embarassing way. Kelli, what was that city I kept pronouncing wrong in Ohio? I remember you laughing.

When Americans, or non-Muslims for that matter simply see the word Muslim in text, we pronounce it in English. However, if educated, one would know better. By you just saying '...it's Muslim' it's not teaching those uninformed. It's still Mooz-lum when read out-loud in the English language. Fortunately, personally, I have plenty Arab friends and I know basic Arabic so I know how to say such and look back in embarassment due to my ignorance. The fact remains that non-English words when said in English get screwed up. Unfortunately, it doesn't help when reporters on TV say the forementioned incorrectly and it does happen quite often. When I hear Americans put the 'Z' in Muslim, or the 'I' and 'rack' in Iraq--I shake my head in how bad it's butchered. It sounds much more beautiful spoken correctly.

You're using British English, while we here in America of course, use American English. British English is consistent with Middle English and less, but still fairly with Old English. American English is consistent with Modern English. Get with the times. I'm tired of that shit.

All words that end in 'our' on www.dictionary.com are just shown as variants to their American-English counterpart. The definition for those words are in the American-spelled definition. Even on www.dictionary.co.uk if you type 'flavour' the first result is 'flavor'.

Which brings me to another point. Listen up, e-Anchorman of Streethop.com. Let's face it, this is an American-based community. While it may not be predominantly American, it is based on American culture for the most part. When you are writing news columns about hip-hop please do so in American English.
