Is It Better To Make Your Own Mistakes & Learn...

#1
which is better to learn from, learning from mistakes on your own or to have your parents there for you giving u step by step advice on what to do in life?

For example, lets say u graduate high school, your parents make you go to college, and they dont let u work...but eventually you graduate get a good job etc..

or

if you were conflicted with that path they set for you, and u decided you didnt wanna do all that shit and just wanted to work, getta car, your own place or whatever.....

as a learning experience/life lesson, do u think it would be better to follow the path they set for u and trust their advice and knowledge, or do you think u would learn better from the situation if u did what you wanted to do after high school, and lived life on your own for a while?

which would u rather have.... a safe yet controlling/involving parents in your life, or freedom to make your own decisions and learn from them?

i honestly cant choose between the two....my parents are kinda mix of both...they encourage me to go out with people, meet people, but that also only certain people...i honestly feel, though, that you learn alot of personal experience, alot more than people giving advice...really, alotta things your parents say earlier on in life, you never listen....a couple years later, you try what they said out of desperation, and it works...it worked all the time, we were just being stubborn....but experiences can also be so bad that you might not be able to recover from them, and you kinda wish you had someone there to warn you about it in the first place...so really, i'd rather be much safer with a parent advising me, rather than taking the fall alone....

Good parents don't force their kids to follow a certain path. Good parents advise their kids to follow a certain path because, from experience, they know best. However, if you wish to follow your dream, your parents should understand and help you along that path, instead of forcing you to do otherwise.
