The western media's coverage of the Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami annoyed the hell out of me. They made out like it affected the whole country. Everyone felt the Earthquake, thats true, but as you see in that video, it was easily survivable. What did the damage was the Tsunami.

The Tsunami hit the north coast, and it didnt travel so far inland that it nearly destroyed an entire country.

The majority of Japan was unaffected by the Tsunami. I have friends all over that country, where not one point after the earthquake, was their normal life affected.

Yet we were all lead to believe Japans been destroyed, and the nation needs help like it became a Third World Country.

They could hardly have downplayed it. More than fifteen thousand people died. That's five 9/11s.

What does it mean to be unaffected? That you can simply get up and go to work and come back home? That none of your relatives and friends died? Is that the extent of an effect?

9/11 didn't affect my "normal" life. On 9/12, I went to school and on with my normal life. I had breakfast. I took a dump, probably, at some point that day. As Ice Cube said, "On 9/11 niggas got patriotic, on 9/12 I'm like fuck it nigga blaze some chronic."

But I can't bring a box cutter on a plane. There's the whole Patriot Act encroaching on my civil liberties. Also, something about a war or two.

15,000 = 0.011759172154280339% of the population. That doesn't sound like much of a national disaster to me.

Yeah its a shitty thing to happen. I dreaded what could have happened to my friends, I thought they could be all dead. But I believed that because I was lead to believe by the media that things were far more drastic than they were.

There's "remove from public view" and there's "permanently delete". I'm sure someone like Rukas could still bring it back somehow.

I didn't touch the Godfather thread.

You select the post individually. You click delete. You are presented with two options: "remove from public view" or "permanently delete". I chose the latter.
