Does anyone have any ideas for Streethop? What they would like to see done? Any ideas on how to get new members and bring old ones back? Anything you would like to see done? Just thought i would throw it out there because this was easily the best and most fun online community that i have ever been a part of and it would be nice to see some of that come back.

Perhaps start by making the site seem alive before one logs in? :-P

Seriously, if by a weird twist of events you still manage to find the site and end up on the main page you will see news from 10 years ago, assume the site has been abandoned and move on. Unless you're crazy and decide to make an account/log in anyway, then you will see that there are still 5 crazy people posting here, and nobody actually talks about the site's subject matter, like ever. Surely the first impressions must be spectacular. Even spam bots don't dare to post these days, they just run away as it's not worth their time pasting spam links around here.

I'd remove all the news on the main page and replace them with snippets of our most legendary conversations, so people know we are crazy straight away, and interesting. Oh, and explain our lack of hip-hop talk with the fact that "streethop" means we really just like hopping on the street, and replace the Chris Brown that appears on the main page with this:

Actually they represent both, hip-hop and hopping on the streets equally well anyway.

No but seriously, the old news must go and we should be more visible from the get go. Not our full convos though as some people could go to jail for what they posted over the years.

^^ Fantastic idea. Our most active section, to my knowledge, is the tech section. Especially the Android section. The thing is, there are straight up tech sites with forums that are more active than that.

I always thought a Streethop Discord or Hangouts chat was great for all the small talk we do. I know lots of sites use Discord for a general chat section and leave the forums for other talk. This site just doesn't have the members that would talk about other things on the main sub to warrant that.

But I still think we should make a site Discord and advertise that.

If you haven't been making money from the site, I am partly to blame. I ad block the shit out of everything. Or maybe even the advertisers ran away from this site, too.

I really want a group chat to happen, though. Basically a "This is my thread" but for OG members. Then leave the general discussion section open for other, newer members.

You gotta start writing some more relevant articles, though. Then it's easier to share a story on a rap forum like HipHopHeads on Reddit or other sites. Without stores, we're just advertising a forum with "Boobs and butts thread" and an "Android" thread as its most active threads.

bring back hitemup.com

Do you post at Boxden? The "emoji" style reminds me of it :p

Otherwise, yeah, I think everyone misses Hitemup and the OG 2pacboard. I think maybe there was a domain name issue there? There were times when hundreds of people wanted it back, and still it didn't work. They eventually moved to other, "newer" 2pac boards that are still running strong today, usually beating a dead horse though, as the people in the know are stuck in a limbo, not really participating anywhere anymore.

I'm sure a lot of us could teach the newcomers so much about 2pac, despite not learning much new stuff. So much was happening on hitemup back in the day, and it wasn't long after 2pac died. We had 2pac affiliated people posting, and real passionate crowds. Heck, leaks every weak, some versions of songs I couldn't find anywhere these days when I was looking for them, mostly newer leaks are around these days. Back in the days there were so many bootlegs of OGs coming at hundreds of songs per year. Speaking of, I wonder what happened to Dante?

These days the best source of knowledge is probably Vlad TV, interviewing people who often invent completely new stories as they ran out of content, or portraying things at different angles, as they themselves forgot the details. I remember, as I was a teenager back then and really cared, lol!

I don't post there actually. I visit once in a couple months usually by accident when there's some interesting discussion posted that I find through Google, but the emoji style is one of my favorite things :D

I got banned many times since 2005. I was tennis_dog, dilla, gandoo, and I don't remember the rest.

This is me now. Actually, this might be dilla but someone changed my name to Coonie and it stuck.
