I was traveling through Ohio yesterday and saw the biggest monstrosity i've ever seen

My parents and I were taking my grandmother to this big flee market called traders market. On the way there while we were on the interstate we drove by this church. From a first glance you wouldn't think it was a church. Maybe a school, country club or resort of some kind. Nope, it was a church. These pics were not taken by me, since my camera phone isn't working right now, but i was able to find pics of this monstrosity that I am speaking of. Behold...

I just don't understand why anyone would need a giant jesus. Why pay the money for that? What is the purpose of it? Anyone else think it is a stupid idea to put an such an ugly thing in front of a church?

lol I've seen this before, too. I remember when I went to Alabama in May to visit my grandma for Mother's Day, and we happened to pass it. While we were passing it, I couldn't take my eyes off of it. It had me literally hypnotized. I just thought it was so amazing. But it was weird because the sky was cloudy except the area above the sculpture, and it looked like the light from the Heavens was shining down upon it, no lie.

*In the article, it said that it stands at 62 ft. high. But from the highway, I swear it looked about 300 ft. high.
