I don't see why you wouldn't use your real name on facebook. You might not want some people finding you i guess... Who you running from Syn?

Well.. with my full name, "hometown", birthdate.. etc, etc.. it's highly likely that I can become the victim of identity theft.

outside of that, I don't want people that I deal with on a professional level to find my FB account. It's also easier this way to tell them I simply don't have a FB as opposed to saying I won't add them which some people take offense to and that can be detrimental for networking. It's easier than say.. managing two FB accounts or having to censor what I write on my current one.

Yeah, same reason why I changed my name to its "english version" - people can't find me yet everyone knows who I am when I add them
And I didn't do it on purpose, it's just because Facebook wasn't popular here at all and most of my friends were people I've met abroad and my first name was unpronounceable to them. I still tell most people I meet that I don't use Facebook. Apart from some people that I added at the very beginning I only add good friends these days. Or some people from abroad because it's the easiest way to keep in touch with them.
