Dreams

I had a dream the other night. Most people have dreams in which their life is in danger. You're being chased by a big snake and right before you're about to die, you wake up. Now, those dreams I think are pretty common. But, in the dream I had, I died...and then came back to life, before waking up. I was speeding on some freeway ramp/bridge in an SUV and I tipped over and crashed through the wall and fell in the water. As I was falling, I felt as if I was going to die, but I had hopes of still being alive after. It was as if a person in that situation would die, but I didn't. All of a sudden, I was alive and was confident about life. It's as if I was immortal...which gets me to another thought. I usually feel as if I am not going to die no matter what. Now, by that, I don't mean that there's no possibility of getting shot five times and dying. I mean, I'm so sure that I wouldn't get shot.

Do you ever get that feeling when you see a news report on a person your age who died and you think to yourself, "I know I'm not going to die". It's not like, "I'm not going to drink and drive like that person" but like "It's just not my time."

Both. When confronted with such news reports as you put up as example, it depends on what happened that I know it's not gonna happen to me. With the drunk driving example, I know I'm not gonna be stupid enough to drink and drive. If it's something else unlucky, like I dont know, getting a crane's wrecking ball on your noggin, I will think "woah, thats bad luck. thats not going to happen to me". Firstly, I'm a cautious person by nature. I think i'm a good participant in traffic, I always pay attention. I don't leave appliances turned on if I leave for an extended period of time, I'm not an accident prone person, I'd rather double check something than not check at all.

So that and my fundamental optimism makes for a happy outlook on life. Shit can still happen to me of course, but I am convinced it won't :).

I expect anything to happen at anytime, and I'm prepared.

But, seriously, that feeling of "it won't happen to me" is common among young people. You feel that because you seem to be the center of everything you know, that you really are. But it's an illusion. It's like everyone thinking the earth is the center and most important place in the Universe. Egocentric.

i get that feeling sometimes too..but if look at it from a spiritual sense...no one ever dies...our souls are eternal...its only our bodies that die..but who knows how many life times weve come back to this earth before

I felt as if I was invincible, until about 7 months ago when a car jumped the cub and nailed me. It was going between 25-30 and smashed me into a pole. I got up with a fucked up foot, when I should've been out for good. Now I don't act like I'm invincible.

I have been having some fucked dreams lately where I think someone or a ghost is in the house. The other night for three hours I kept waking up but I could not move my body for anything. That shit scares me when it happens. My eyes are open but I can't move my body. Anyone else do that?

Hypnagogia (also spelled hypnogogia) describes vivid dream-like auditory, visual, or tactile sensations, which are often accompanied by sleep paralysis and experienced when falling asleep or waking up.

Why? You survived a car crash when you could have died. You cheated death. You're invincible. :)

Haha. That's actually how I looked at it at first. But now looking back upon it, just realizing that shit even happened is just crazy. Knowing that I never would've thought I would be hit by someone who jumped a curb, makes me realize that anything is possible.

i feel absolutely no certainty about when i die. it could be tomorrow, it could be in 80 years, over the years i'm just trained not to think about it too much like everybody else, but i do believe i will die, and my reason tells me it will be of relatively young age.
