Do you phone people just to talk?

I only phone people when I have something specific to talk about, never to 'just talk'.

A friend of mine regularly phones me to do this. It's annoying as the conversations are about nothing and there's silence for 20% of the conversation. Also it often makes me miss the TV show I was watching

Do any guys on this board actually do this? I'm guessing most girls do.

Remember in Family Guy when Peter phones Quagmire just to talk? Quagmire's reaction is hilarious and an example of how all men should react when phoned 'just to talk' when you haven't not seen each other in 10 years.

I call people "just to talk" sometimes. . .

But I also get mad when people call me in the middle of a good TV show/movie and I can't find a way to tell them that i'll talk to them later :(

Why do you think that is?

Do you prefer the part where you're talking or where other people talk? Or it doesn't matter?

It doesn't really happen with most of my male friends, there is always a very loose point if it does happen like HAHAHA your team lost to the worst team in the league and then conversation drifts but for the vast majority of my male friends talking (on the phone) has to have a point.

But with my female friends, they often call me up just to "talk" and it's usually about very trivial things like what flavour crisps they seem to hate or whatever but I don't really mind. I actually kinda like it.

So basically the main reason you call people is to you have someone to listen to you talk?

I can't phrase that without it sounding harsh :(
