^LOL.

I know of several couples that remained couples even after they got in a fight and the girl got her ass whooped. Women are weird in that sense. Some women feel that they deserved the beating. Some women, through the guy's apology, are reminded of how nice the guy "was" and that makes them come back. Also, most importantly, getting your ass whooped by a person you love doesn't immediately destroy the feelings you have for the person.

What this confirms for me is, again and again and again, that these celebrities make the same choices and mistakes that normal people make every day. But, most importantly, it shows gender dynamics and gender politics. It shows why a lot of domestic abuse never gets reported and why domestic abuse victims still remain with the abuser.

"But that's not really who he is, he's a nice guy"
"He won't do it again, it was a one time thing"
"He was stressed, I was out of line"

In the end, I don't know the events that took place during their fight, obviously. Also, I'm not here to judge if a girl should stay with her guy after a fight like that. Maybe, somewhere out there, couples do live through these issues and come out to be better and stronger and the events don't repeat. I don't know.

Anyway - I'll try to contribute to this thread for the first time.

I've seen my share of abusive relationship while growing up - threats with knives and shit like that. But nobody cares about my mama and dad because their not a pop idol.

I'm not trying to stop anybody from getting their daily dose of celebrity gossip - go right ahead but I'd rather see it die because this photoshopped-people-magazine crap is not my kind of thing.

Nothing personal to the thread starter.

I thought that it's a publicity stunt from the start. The fact that everything is going to be like it was before "the beating" fits to my theory.

None taken. The thing though, although the thread deals with a celebrity couple, there is no need to constrain the debate to that and for the most part, we haven't. Domestic abuse in general can be debated and it has been so far.

Elaborate. Do a cost-benefit analysis for this "publicity stunt" like this and let us know what you come up with.

The cliche "No publicity is bad publicity" won't work, though.

I'll help you with some strictly monetary costs:

Chris Brown:

1. Loss of sponsorship from Spearmint and other companies
2. Loss of radio play on radio stations across the country
3. Court costs
4. Canceled Grammy performance

Rihanna:

1. Canceled Grammy performance
2. Canceled birthday party
3. Canceled shows in other states
4. Medical costs
5. Court costs

This was a publicity stunt. New sources say they actually got married and made this whole thing up.

j.k

publicity stunt my ass. This has happened before (not as bad) and it wasn't reported. Rihanna was not the one that reported it, it was the witness.

Rihanna be on some Stockholm syndrome shit (yea, not really I know, stfu).

If she wants to stay with him, her fucking choice.

My personal brutal honesty? I cannot respect a woman that stays with a man that beats her. Even if it's a one time thing. You lay off.

So go ahead, Rihanna, run back to boyo. If he whoops you again, stfu about it.

yeah

I wasn't really following that whole situation because I didn't care and thought it's a publicity stunt or some other stupid shit. I still don't care though.
