"born and raised"

i've sort of had a problem like this. when people ask me where i'm from i never know what to say. Should I tell them where I just moved from even though i only lived there for a few years or do I tell them where I spent the majority of my life growing up or do I tell them where I was born?
like i mention in my profile i have lived (in this order) in Incirlik, Turkey (where i was born), lived in Dayton OH, Las Vegas NV, Illinois on the east side of St. Louis (where i spent most of my life growing up about 10 or 11 years), Kentucky, and now Florida.
when people ask me where i'm from i like to joke and say everywhere. but to save me from getting weird looks i just say st.louis most of the time

You can claim where you were born; the length of the time you stayed there doesn't matter. I hate it when people claim a place where they weren't born. "Queens is where I'm from....Brooklyn all day" and they were born in Sudan and Somalia. I mean, it's cool to like the place and all, but make sure you acknowledge to the peeps where you're really from.
There's this girl in my school that claims she's Hawaiian, but she was actually born in Bulgaria. It's just that her dad's from Hawaii...Pathetic. But, hey, Hawaii sounds better than Bulgaria, right?

It makes it hard when you've live a lot of different places because you feel as if you're denying a part of yourself if you don't mention all of the places. Then again, if you say one place and not the other people may think you're not telling the truth or tryin to act like you're something you aren't.
I was born in the Islands, and I was there till about 12. I've lived all over the States, and now i'm in Chicago. So I NEVER know what to tell people when they ask me, "where are you from?"

Well, I was born here in Montreal, but I'm of Croatian background. When it comes to me, where your born doesn't really mean shit, wtv though, I've been going to Cro since I've been a kid, but anyways it's not like you have a choice where your born. So, I usually say I'm Cro when people ask, cause they see Milinovic as my last name and usually end of asking what's my ethnicity.
Just like Chris Rock says: ''You're not American if you were born here, your just fortunate enough to have popped out your mom's pussy on American soil''
I dunno why that girl would deny being Bulgarian especially if he parents are it. Maybe she's embaressed cause we wipe our asses with them in soccer.
Seriously though,I think what I'm discussing though is a tad different from some of you that have moved palce to place to place.

Am i White, am i black, should i act black here, or act white? These questions are all stupid and i hope no one thinks like this. Hopefully Alicia Keys acts like Alicia Keys and does not consider her race.
We as a society need to stay away from subjcts like these, they make people analyize race too much. Race is simply the color of ur skin. The remaining 99.9% of that person lies on their insides.
