people other than rappers use it. i hear people all the time...it's a habit people get into and it's hard to break unless you focus specifically on that one word when you speak

Big L did it as well, and i believe Wu isnt clear of charge either. Always been wondering where "aks" came from as well.

So, Zero, since you know it so well, tell us :) It must be more than merely different pronounciation

It's metathesis which is a slip of the tounge. Same reason there's words like asteriks (instead of asterisk) and nucelar (instead of nuclear)

Metatheses becomes so popular that often it replaces the actual word in areas and becomes accepted.

oh and Zero, to finish my point. Metathesis is the cause of uneducated english. Just because some people have accepted it doesn't mean it's right. Ask any lingusist.

Next time your going for a professional job interview say that you would like to aks them a question and see how you go.

just bout every black person i know says "axe"... not to be racist or tryin to single anyone out, i think thats just how they learned how to pronounce the world, nothing terribly wrong with that, but its something i've noticed.
