I did a 6 month tour in Afghanistan after 9/11.. We were sent to support a marine unit and basically followed them wherever they went.. Pretty weird working with those guys, since the army and marines "hate each other" but when it comes down to it they're cool cats.. Saw a few fucked up things, but nothing that made me crazy or break down.. If you were in the military when 9/11 went down, shit was nuts.. Especially if you had a combat M.O.S.. Everyone was worried about being deployed.. They put us on a type of "red alert" status (cant remember the proper name for it) but if they gave the signal, your ass better be packed with your 80 pound rucksack, kevlar helmet, chemical suit, weapon, and gas mask within I think about an hour if i remember correctly.. ready to head out.. I was an artillaryman and I'll never forget on the 9/11 afternoon/night my battery was ordered to draw a type of round that we never even knew existed up until then for our howitzer cannons.. Trust me.. if the U.S really wanted to go all out and fuck someone up, we could definately do it.
Any other military people in here?
