A law question

#1
Okay so today i got arrested and had charges pressed against me for 'percieving to be a menace' My friends and I pulled drive bys on our own friends with water guns and had panty hose on our heads... now their neighbors called the cops on us.
So my question is.. is 'percieving to be a menace' a real crime cause it sounds like some real bullshit

I've never heard of this charge in my life. And I like law and studying it.

Besides if you clear up that the people you shot with the water guns are your friends and they dont press charges you should be fine.

Btw where do you live, law is different everywhere.

Never heard of that type of labeling of a charge (in your situation), but my advice to you is to talk to the officer or department that got you arrested.

Doesn't sound serious, worst comes to shove pay a fine and community service. If you want it answered by law enforcement officers go here: www.realpolice.net and click on forums.

If the police have arrested and charged you, chances are it is a real crime in your jurisdiction. A gay one perhaps...

Most likely the offence is designed for more serious action than water guns though... (you would think anyway)... speak to legal aid, perhaps there are some defences you could raise.

lool damn, man police are getting more stupid by the day.
Well, police dont make the law - they merely enforce it. It's the legislature that are stooopid. And they merely respond to the community's fears and desires... so ultimately who is stupid.... people.

Sounds like one of those post 9/11 laws, regaurdless of wheather your friends say ya'll were just messing around or not it wasnt them who pressed charges, it was the P.D. now its up to the prosecuter if he wants to make those charges stick, chances are you'll get a slap on the wrist depending on your criminal record. I'd get a good lawyer an try an plea it down as much as possible like "mischiveous conduct" or even disturbing the peace. I've never heard of "percieving to be a menace" to me that sounds like some of the bs anti terror laws that were passed after 9/11 in which case you need to be very careful of what you do, hopefully they'll just drop it cause it sounds retarded anyway but you did even in fun try an conceal your identity.
