Destroyed.

My shit's been reduced to maybe half a crate sitting on top of a portable turntable in a closet. I might as well get rid of all of those and just wash my hands of this whole physically owning music mess. I spent a lot of time and a lot of money buying/listening/discussing that shit. I don't even want to think about the resale value of some of those records (and you know I kept all of that in great condition, only fucked-up records I own are singles from groups no one cares about like the Hemispheres that I let people scratch on).

A record collection takes a lot of time and a lot of space. Can't get them hot. Can't get them wet. Gotta be careful about applying weight. They're going to stop manufacturing vinyl records soon, for environmental reasons in addition to the fact that there really was no point. It's basically only nostalgia and traditionalism that was sustaining the market anyway.

From now on, I'm going to spend my disposable money on books. Or stocks and bonds, that's that hot shit. The money I get from liquidating my remaining collection and turntables is going to go towards an extremely powerful celebration once I get back to the city that care, Bush, and FEMA forgot. And a new mp3 player.

RIP my record collection.

B-side:

How the fuck is my brother going to tell me to stay home tonight because he wants to chill, and then he goes and leaves while I'm taking a pre-DVD shit? That's fucked up.

The only decent one I have is the NumarK PT-01 portable turntable (it has a shitty built-in speaker, but it has an audio out for headphones/external speakers). The others ones are awful belt-driven pieces that I've been picking up cheap from pawn shops/Goodwill until I could get the loot for proper 1200s.

And yeah, it was mostly the hurricane and a little bit of negligence. It's all good though, really. At least I've never had to sleep in a stadium.

That blows, my friend went back to New Orleans the other day (he goes to school down there) to try and salvage his stuff, and everything was pretty much ruined. He said, clothes, eletronics, all of that was no good. And it looked as if the things that didn't get damaged naturally was rumaged through by someone trying to steal.

Sorry about your stuff. :(

Damn shame. I'd be absolutely gutted.

Will you get an insurance payout?
