Like i said, the chances of getting this disease are extremely slim, so if it was passed on genetically a lot more people would have it.

don't ask me i didn't write the headline. But judging from the fact that in the article they only mention in one short line that the baby was born without the condition, its clear that isn't the point of the article. The point is that this woman carried and delivered this child even after she's had 2 miscarriages, and she and the baby came out of it healthy
i feel the need to say she looks like casper....she's also very, very scary looking....i really hope the best for her...one part of my argument in this post was gonna be how was she gonna be able to hold the kid when her arms are prone being damaged, but she's got a man that looks like he lifts alot....or she makes him look big, whatever...i guess it could work, but still, it's dangerous to her...but whatever, i do realize it was her choice, and she has a right to, but a little bit more ethical....the kids ok, so i guess its ok...she wont be able to enjoy everything mothers could enjoy from their children...chasing them, doing the little airplane thing....kinda makes you appreciate shit like that....but that woman is messed up....god...thats gonna haunt me..
Agree with this (not with the phrasing), if you have a disorder severe enough to alter your life, it's incredibly selfish to make a child, unless of course the disorder can't be genetically transfered.
And to the people trying to discredit KAMI's statement by saying the baby is perfectly healthy, you have bullshit reasoning.
It's possible to get a healthy child even if chances are 1/10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 and even if the child is that lucky, it doesn't change the fact that its parents knowingly took the chance to produce a child that might very well have that same disorder.

Yes there's always a risk of giving birth but that's the natural cause of life. Making children when you have a disorder that can be genetically transfered you're gambling with your future child's life.
To make a comparison, I'll use the example of a busy street.
Crossing it = giving birth.
Even if you look both ways before you cross it, there's always a risk but if you close your eyes and just walk across you're increasing the risk. You might not get hit but that doesn't change the fact that you put yourself in unnecessary danger.

I think before anybody judges them on giving birth to a potentially deformed child, we need to know whether or not they knew the baby was going to be healthy BEFORE the lady gave birth. I also agree that it's not right to give birth to a child who has to carry the burden of whatever disease you have (if it's major) but if they knew beforehand that the baby was going to be healthy then there's nothing wrong with that.

I'm not saying putting yourself in danger and giving birth the same, I was merely using an comparison to show the difference between normal people reproducing and people with a genetic disorder reproducing. Yes there's always a risk with giving birth (as with crossing the road) but you're knowingly increasing the risk by doing it if you have a disorder (as with crossing the road without looking).

And if you're going to say that you're denying a child a life then every single woman that isn't pregnant/getting pregnant from the moment that she can bear children till the moment she dies is doing the same, so don't come with that argument.
If going by that logic then consider this:
A woman doing every possible drug that can potentially hurt the baby in her womb also has a better chance of producing a healthy child than someone who isn't reproducing. :thumb:
